And also if Sam only had a second to adjust does that not count as mitigation? 12:07 Often missed is Bauden Barrett's try against South Africa is the first try in a RWC final against South Africa. The 1995 final had no tries. The 2007 final had no tries. The 2019 had two tries from South Africa (Mapimpi and Kobe), but none from England. Special shout out for Aaron Smith getting a ball over the line first - I'm gutted for him that it was disallowed. Him and Bauden both deserved it.

Kolisi's head hit the ball under Savea's arm first, and then bounced off, hitting Savea's head. It's just bad luck. 20:38 I really feel for Aaron Smith - he could have been the first player to score a try against the Springboks in a World Cup Final. He absolutely deserved it - he's been outstanding for the entire game. But he misses out through no fault of his own. More bad luck. 24:30 I'm not convinced this was deliberate. Kolbe has both arms extended to wrap around the much bigger player. And sure enough, advance the video to 72:04, and he has his arms firmly wrapped around ALB, and takes him to the ground. I don't think he would have been so distraught over the yellow card if it was a calculated, sacrificial move. Again, this looks like bad luck.

Hmm I have to disagree on the Frizzell clean out of Mbonambi. In my eyes that's a red, way worse than Canes lazy tackle. Frizzell unlike your bros doing a reenactment ends up practically behind Bongi and is 180 degrees off from where he started. Now that type of clean out on that particular player with his very particular injury he was carrying and the responsibility and risk SA had placed in him. Well it could have been random but the odds are against it.

I'm getting into rugby again after watching chasing the sun 2. i find the card rules so harsh in modern rugby, that red card in the 2023 final would never have been a red card in the 2000's. i gather that's just the way high tackles are policed these days. so be it. the call looked very harsh though, just saying as a South African watching it all and taking in the analysis in post. the old foe didn't go quietly regardless, brilliant effort by new Zealand. that was a match fitting for the title of current best of all time rugby nation. see you at a future world cup for the inevitable clash of titans once more.
